Taking part in Pianopalooza involves:

  • Using the video conference application Zoom.

  • A camera/laptop that needs to be placed so that the pianist’s hands and upper body are visible for the full duration of the performance.

  • A casual dress code. No formal attire is required.

  • Making sure that the audio quality of the video is good throughout the Zoom conference.

  • Scoring paddles for the pianists who also choose to be on the adjudication panel. Click here or here to view an example of how to make your own at home. You can get creative and make them look as nice as you wish! You will need 4 score cards, with the following inscriptions: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and C (for commendation).

Depending on the number of participants, we may need to adjust the age categories and group adjudicators.

Pianists who will choose to be on the adjudication panel will not evaluate pianists in their class, they will evaluate performances in the younger categories.

Participants who are 19 plus get the chance to perform to each other (like in a masterclass) but their performances will not be adjudicated. All 19 plus participants will receive a participation certificate.
