New Piano Stars 2020 Rules

Welcoming young pianists up to 18 years old to compete in our 6th edition of New Piano Stars!

Categories/Repertoire :

Class A (ages 7 and under): one or two pieces, not exceeding 2 minutes

Class B (Ages 8-10): one or two pieces, not exceeding 3 minutes

Class C (Ages 11-13): one or two pieces, not exceeding 4 minutes

Class D (Ages 14-16): one or two pieces, not exceeding 5 minutes

Class E (Ages 16-18): one or two pieces, not exceeding 6 minutes

Important: Please remember to leave the competitor's name as reference, and please do not use "application fee" or "entry fee", for an accurate tracking of all payments.

Please email the following information to

  • Full name of the participant;

  • Age of participant on the date of the competition (please attach proof of ID);

  • Repertoire (name of Piece/s and Composer/s);

  • Video Recording (can be a link to a sharing platform such as WeTransfer, Dropbox or Google Drive).

We ask you to ensure that children entering this competition are in the correct age category at the time of the competition.

All contestants are required to submit video recordings.


  • The video must be taken with a fixed camera.

  • The pianist’s hands must be clearly visible for the full duration of the performance.

  • We ask all the pianists to wear formal concert dress when they are performing the repertoire.

  • We ask the parents to make sure that the audio quality of the video is good throughout the recording.

  • The pianists can choose the order of the pieces.

  • The pianists are allowed to introduce the pieces, should they wish to do so.


We will not accept videos which are edited in any way. The videos must be recorded in one take from the start to the end. Please make sure that the total duration of the performance (including introductions, pausing between the pieces) does not exceed the required timing.
